Jose Mourinho Needs Everton Seamus Coleman Badly

Jose Mourinho has asked Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to target Everton right-back Seamus Coleman in a £16million January swoop, according to the Sunday People.

Mourinho is understood to have identified Republic of Ireland international Coleman as a target after failing to be impressed by Italy international Matteo Darmian.

It means United have revived their interest in the 27-year-old three years after David Moyes tried to sign him during his short tenure at Old Trafford.

Antonio Valencia or Matteo Darmian were liable to struggle and the latter has made one appearance all season so far. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is an exciting prospect but could end up forging a career as a central midfielder – his preferred position.

Then you have to take into account Valencia’s age (31) and the fact he is well into the last year of his contract. He is also not an out-and-out right-back, having established himself there under Van Gaal.
The Toffees ace was snapped up by the Goodison Park outfit from League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in 2009.

He was given his Premier League debut by former United manager David Moyes.
